Dire animals

Creatures theme

Larger and often more vicious variants of regular animals, though usually not large enough to be considered gigantic in relation to other animals (but may be in relation to the original animal).

Although dire wolves were quite real (and now extinct) animals, no other real animal has "dire" in its name, this is however not true for fictional settings where dire animals of great variety often exist.

Often the dire animals have darker fur/hide and sometimes more supernatural features such as glowing eyes.

This tag should mostly be used when the animals are actually identified as dire something, as otherwise they're better off being among giant animals.
