Discontinuity

Culture concept

Fails consistency with source material or previous works without claiming retcon or reboot (or where such is impossile, such as not owning the associated mythos), or even consistency with itself.

Alternate names: Continuity error, Plot error

Limitations
* Parody and other comedic spin-offs should be ignored
* Works that more or less clearly label themselves as alternate takes on the universe should not be included (e.g. see the hundreds of different continuities in Marvel universe for one)
... or works based on those with countless continuities and it's nearly impossible to tell which they belong to without significant research or prior knowledge.
