DRM: Login

Software concept

Any DRM that requires an account at an online service.

These likely tie product key to the login account, making resale of the product impossible.

Note that this is not necessarily labeled as DRM anywhere, but the requirement to login at an online service (simply to start the game) is hardly anything but a DRM feature.

This is NOT for online-only games (e.g. MMOs).

The first DRM: Login video game was released on April 20, 2002.

Kalypso Media Digital, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft published most of these games.
