Experimental

Although many experimental games overlap with innovation of one sort or another, innovative elements do not necessarily mean the game is experimental, nor vice versa. Many innovative elements may be so small compared to the overall system that they wouldn't be suitable to count as experimental, and some experimental games simply try another approach to old things or on different scale.

Note also that this is not for experimentation on personal level, such as trying to make a strategy game for the first time or a specific type of puzzle game.
