A period in Japanese history that spanned from 12th to 19th century, known as the period of samurai, ninja/kunoichi, shinobi, warlords (especially Nobunaga), onmyōji, and early firearms.

Feudal period is divided into few smaller periods:
* 1185 - 1333: Kamakura period (鎌倉時代)
* 1336 - 1573: Muromachi period (室町時代)
* 1568 - 1600: Azuchi-Momoyama period (安土桃山時代)
* 1603 - 1876: Edo period (江戸時代)

Also covers the Warring States period (15th to early 17th century).
