This is a specific variation of 3DoF (three degrees of freedom): forward/back, left/right, and yaw (in 90 degree increments). Many are also only 2DoF with the lack of side stepping.
Better name for this concept is needed, but since there's no agreement on it besides grid based movement or similar elsewhere and that doesn't distinguish from other uses of grids, we're limited to this currently.
