Hit confirmation

Video game concept

Gives some form of confirmation if you hit anything worth hitting, generally providing this even in cases when you couldn't possibly know (such as shooting targets outside of visible range or behind vision blocking cover such as bushes).

Commonly this appears as the targeting reticle flashing red or such when you hit something, making it easy to find hiding enemies simply by shooting around and looking for reaction from the reticle rather than from the enemies themselves. Also notable that if you hit something far, far away that couldn't possibly see if you hit them or not (unless they were close enough for you to see if they keel over).

NOT for the vs fighting "hit confirm" which is very different concept.
