HX works fine as a DOS extender. It also works with Windows components, even under pure DOS (as long as files for Windows components are present). It can use memory management schemes for DOS as well as the ones used with Windows (including Windows' virtual memory). Ironically, hiccups tend to occur when using HX in a DOS terminal running in Windows. This is correctable using alternate configurations of HX.

OpenGL components for Windows will work under pure DOS using HX. Windows OpenGL wrappers for Glide also will work under pure DOS using HX.
