Any tags related to how the game loads data.
This is a container group; its children are:
Immersive load | Loading screens are depicted in somehow immersive way, such as vehicle boot/warm-up sequence. Does not necessarily include the initial game load. | 0 game | |
Cutscene loading | Loads gameplay related content even during cutscenes or other similar things where player interaction is minimal or non-existant instead of locking occasionally into a literal loading screen. Liberal use of transition cutscenes can make it seem loadless. (too long) | 2012 / 2014 | 5 games |
Obscured loading | Obscures level, zone, map, etc. loading. Commonly done in locations where player does not see where they came from nor where they're going to, so previous area is unloaded and next area is loaded. For example, during an elevator ride or airlock cycling. (too long) | 2007 / 2014 | 11 games |
Partial loading | The game loads only bare necessities before shoving player into game, finalizing the load during play. | 2008 / 2015 | 16 games |
Loading nonsense | The information given (mainly what it claims to be loading or processing) by the load screen(s) is nonsense, has little to nothing to do with what is actually loaded. | 1994 / 2016 | 56 games |
Loadless | After the game reaches the point where the player can actually play, there are no notable pauses for loading thenceforth, anywhere. | 2010 / 2018 | 14 games |
Preloading | Loads certain assets before they are actually needed. (too short) | 3 games |
