For example, pulling a drawer open requires you take hold of the drawer and pull, and it opens only as much as you bother pulling it. Same for opening doors, as they are opened only as much as you push/pull them, allowing you to crack them slightly to peek what's on the other side instead of slamming them open in full as is normal.
Essentially this is a step forward in interaction from having separate open and peek commands but extends to more things than just doors and containers.
