Notable people involved: Hiromichi Tanaka, Hironobu Sakaguchi, Nobuo Uematsu, Nasir Gebelli and Jenna Sharpe

Alternate names: Mermaids, Mermen

Merfolk are sea creatures generally thought to be half fish/half human. The top half is human, usually. Some are simply water-breathing humans. Tales of them are similar to sirens or water nymph/water fairy folk. There have been many hoaxes claiming to 'prove' the existence of real mermaids. They are usually quite dangerous to people, even the nice ones.
