A specific advantage over the original curses is ncurses' ability to quickly react to a dynamically changing text display size. Another advantage to ncurses is the ability to make one application that will run on any platform with text display, should the author so choose. ncurces is distributed under the Permissive Free Software License but is a Free Software Foundation endorsed application.
