In comparison with environmental combat, this is mostly for games where enemies are vulnerable to the environment but the game does not give proper tools, abilities, or such to take advantage of that. There's no knockback powerful enough to send enemies flying into the hazards or similar; requiring trickery and careful positioning to achieve instead (essentially metagaming the AI).
