Also, the game can be made to work on the OS it claims is incompatible; by either bypassing the OS check or making the OS report itself as one of the approved operating systems.
This has nothing to do with hardware.

Practically the game throws an error message saying something like "You're not running operating system X." and the dialog has no options to try playing anyway, only to exit.

This is aggravating on operating systems slightly newer than what the game supports, but may be quite valid on older.

If the installer is what is preventing and not the game executable itself, then use install OS limit instead.
