Reimagining

Culture concept

Conceives the old in a new way, maintaining the basic storyline, timeline, characters and so forth but retelling the story in a different way and possibly with significant alterations to the setting itself. In essence an unfaithful adaptation.

Reasons for this can vary greatly:
* Want for different story, so those familiar with the original can experience something new
* Difficulty in adapting the story as is into game format (lack of imagination on part of the game designers?)
* Limitations of the platform (such as limited storage)
* Intellectual property rights
* Creative or artistic freedom
* Psychological or thoughtful work turned into more action-oriented game
... and so forth
