Game saves are incompatible with different versions of the game, but not counting platform differences.

Especially bad if the game has auto-update. Obviously a non-issue with games that are old (no longer supported).
Does not mean Every version of the game is incompatible with the rest, just that some are. Generally if some patch breaks compatibility with older saves (as part of the update and not a bug in the patch), then it's good enough for this tag.
This could also be a safety measure to prevent corrupt game loads that are difficult to debug.
