Siege towers are unique among seige weapons in that they are still occasionally used in modern times, albeit improvised. Police forces have on occasion needed to 'siege' buildings and have rigged cranes, boom ladders, buckets on large earth movers/caterpillars, or other such tools to transport many officers at once from street level to an upper story entry.
