Like most games, you are rewarded for success. But game in this group impose a punishment if you surpass an upper threshold of success.

This is not for intuitive penalties. Such as weighing down a character with too much gold makes them slower. Rather it is for penalties that are unforeseeable, very much out of place, and disproportionate in justice to the player.
