Software concept

In addition to hardware accelerated rendering, the game also supports rendering through software.


The first video game about Software renderer was released in 1992.

Electronic Arts, Activision and GT Interactive has published most of these games

Use only if other renderers have been specified, otherwise software rendering is pretty much a given.

This applies even in cases where the software rendering is accomplished through the 3D APIs, but only if they're used in pure software mode (at least OGL supports this, D3D may as well by backwards compatibility but I'm not completely certain of this).
