Commonly this is associated with fear of the unnamed, especially superstitious (whether it's actually true or not) fear where naming them draws their attention or gives them power. Though one could easily argue that the given power is due to fear of avoiding the name and the superstitious fear that grows with such behaviour.
Note that this is not for cases where people just slink around their ignorance of a name, but rather when they either refuse to use a name they know to apply to it, or to give it/them a name that would be more useful than "You-Know-Who", "They", "It" or "The Artifact".
Note that some cases may slink around this by people not caring to name something, like they encounter a canine-like creature and call it a "dog" (while knowing it isn't technically a dog) and resume doing so out of convenience, ignorance or simply not caring what it actually is. These should not generally count for this tag. Usually recognizable by disinterest in the matter or associated humor.
In modern times this can be comparable to data mining software that pay more attention to specific conversations, articles, etc. where a specific name/keyword is mentioned, drawing unusual amount of attention to it, therefore avoiding such keywords would essentially become a variation of what this tag is for.
