Sometimes a game is so good that marketing geniuses decide it would be way to popular if published. Thus hindering sales of their mediocre games.

Notable people involved: Phil Sandhop, Eiji Aonuma, Toru Minegishi, Mitsuhiro Takano and Eugene Jarvis [Williams]

Personally I've heard of publishing being delayed because of some other game being too popular and being published at the same time (if the delay isn't introduced), but never that the popular game itself was delayed for this.
Often this only results in a delay, but if its delayed too long then the geniuses deem it to be out dated and still unpublishable. While this tag applies often to a company hindering its own games, companies will occasionally hinder games of others too.
