A track first built in 1960 included a huge 'forest area' consisting of a wide sweeping right turn that was essentially a major strait followed by an easy turn into the main strait. Due to the surrounding forest, the race cars were hidden from spectators while in this section which amounted to about 1/3 of the total course. Between 1965 and 2001 the forest area would be eventually divided by 3 chicanes; one in the back straight, one in the easy turn, and one at the slight curve of the main straight. This esentially turned two straights unto 4 and removed the easy turn. This is the configuration that concerns this group.
Before 1960 the track at the location was a road course quite different from the on there now. Another group applies to this configuration.
In 2002, the forest area and easy turn/chicane was bypassed with a zig-zag, a sweeping left turn (straight), and a hairpin back onto the main straight before the chicane there.

The first Race Track: Hockenheimring, Baden-Württemberg, Germany video game was released in 1984.
Accolade, Mastertronic and Electronic Arts published most of these games.
