Distributed under the name Sega Genesis 32X in the USA, Sega Mega Drive 32X in Europa, Sega Super 32X in Japan and Sega Mega 32X in Brazil.

This system is an add-on that can only be used with the Mega Drive / Genesis, and increases its capabilities with two 32-bit processors. The system was a failure because everyone was waiting for the new 32bit generation of systems (Sega Saturn, Sony PlayStation and Nintendo 64), plus, everyone remembered the failure of the previous Sega System, the Mega-CD / Sega-CD.

Sega planned to make a console named the Sega Neptune, which would have been a Mega Drive and 32X in one.

It was discontinued on October 1995, not even a year after its releases.

Five games require use of the Mega-CD, the other Mega Drive add-on, labeled Sega Mega-CD 32X games.
