Description

A turn based strategy game.

It is cross platform, programmed in C++, released under the GNU General Public License and free. Development is decentralized. But the operators of the official website do choose which content gets bundled with the game download so some of the user created content and features are sort of 'official'. They require content to be GPL before they will host it on their server. Non-GPL content is also available, but elsewhere.

Commercial publisher Manifesto Games offers this game on their website in exchange for a "desultory handwave in the direction of actually trying to sell you stuff".

1 player or multi-player.

Originally called 'West and North' after the 2 lands in the game that were inhabited in the first campaign. The way the name developed to its current form is paralleled in the 'The Rise of Wesnoth' campaign.
