Great Soccer

Instead of Great Soccer, Sega should have named it "Average Soccer", because I could find nothing great about it. It is a very basic representation of soccer. The soccer field is quite small and there are only 5 players on each side plus goalkeepers. There are no attractive play modes and the gameplay is only average. I must confess that I have seen much worse soccer games from the 8-bit era, but in the end Great Soccer is also a mostly failed attempt to bring real soccer fun to a home console.

This early Master System / Sega Mark III soccer game, which was released only in Japan and Europe, should not be confused with the later World Soccer game which was released in the US under the name "Great Soccer". The European version is significantly rarer than the Japanese version and the most expensive EU Sega card release.
