BurgerTime  Mattel (Mattel;Data East)1983b Apple II Elabelimageminimize
BurgerTime  Data East;Namco (SAS Sakata)1985b1As Chef Peter Pepper, you must fend off the Food Foes while making perfect burgers! Use pinches of pepper to stun Mr. Hot Dog, Mr. Egg and Mr. Pickle, or lure them onto or under burger buns, lettuce, cheese or tomatoes to escape their clutches! Making perfect burgers gets progressively tougher through the six screens of BurgerTime!***A good conversion of an arcade classic. I personally think that the Famicom/NES version came a year or two too late to be considered impressive, since many other home versions were already available (e.g. the very good Colecovision port). Gameplay gets a bit old after a few tries and the difficulty level is rather high from the beginning.***Developed by Data East
Published by Namco Limited in Japan, 1985-11-27
NES-BR-USA published by Data East Corporation in USA, 1987-05

The player controls Chef Pepper while he makes giant hamburgers by walking over and knocking the layers of required ingredients off the giant lattice where they sit. Layers only fall one level of the lattice at a time. When one layer falls on another, it falls one level also. Hamburgers are complete when all the required layers are knocked to hamburger tray on the bottom. Required ingredients are bun, meat, lettuce, and bun. The optional ingredients, are the antagonists; Mr. Egg, Mr. Pickle, and Mr. Hot Dog. Apparently, fried eggs and hot dogs are a popular hamburger ingredients in the alternate universe where videogame characters live. Should they be caught between the falling required layers, they will become permanent ingredients. Otherwise they will kill Chef Pepper on contact. But Chef Pepper can pick up salt to protect himself. One sprinkle od salt will stun the optional ingredients long enough for Chef Pepper to walk past them.

BurgerTime Deluxe Data East1991bHow fast can you put together a burger when there are toppings out to get you at every turn? Give Chef Peter Pepper a helping hand to create the ultimate hamburger.
Each ingredient is located on a different platform, and you must climb a series of ladders in order to reach them all. Walk across the ingredient to drop it closer to the waiting plate below. Once all the burgers have been completed, you’ll be able to move on to the next level. But watch out: Renegade ingredients will stop at nothing to put an end to your cooking days. Dodge them, stun them using pepper or drop a hamburger ingredient on top of them to stop their chase. If you run out of pepper, collect bonus foods such as coffee, chocolate and fries to recharge. It’s a nonstop food fight in this classic arcade game.

[52]***In Captain Silver, you play the role of Jim, a brave young lad with a taste of adventure. You embark on a journey to find Captain Silver's secret treasure hoard, which is rumored to be hidden on an island in the Eastern Seas.

There are six scenes in the game. During his travels, Jim will explore villages, fight his way on board ships, venture through caves, and wander around tropical islands. In each of these six scenes, Jim must use his sword to kill cats, rats, bats, witches, skeletons, and other creatures that are waiting for him. When Jim touches, or is shot at, by a creature, he loses one of his lives, but when he kills a creature, he can collect some gold that they leave behind, which can be used to buy items from shops. However, rather than getting gold, enemies leave behind some gold containing one of the letters that spell the word "CAPTAIN SILVER". If Jim manages to get all of these letters, he will be awarded an extra life.

Jim may only use his sword to start off with, but once he collects a fairy that floats toward him in every scene, Jim will be able to shoot stars at enemies, making his kills more efficient. The maximum number of stars that he can have is six. There are other power-ups that Jim can collect in the game. These include the "clock" power-up, which gives Jim extra time; the "boot" power-up which allows Jim to jump higher; and the "coffee?" power-up, which enables Jim to shield himself from creatures until he is hit by one.

There is a boss in each scene, which he must defeat in order to proceed to the next round. There is also a certain time limit, which Jim must complete the scene before it expires. If he does not, then he will lose a life.***There are two version of this cart. The "two-mega" version was released in Canada and Europe and has all 6 levels and all the enemies mentioned in the manual. The "one-mega" version was released in the USA. It has only 4 levels and is missing many enemies. The USA game manual still describes the missing levels and enemies.

Donald Land  Data East1988b"Donald Land" wasn't the only game based on the McDonalds brand, but it was the first one for a videogame console and only released in Japan. It is a straightforward platform game. I kinda liked it more than I first expected that I would. Controls are ok, difficulty level just right and the levels are varied enough. Gameplay-wise the only thing I did not like was the attack method with bombs. You can't shoot forward in this game, but only throw bombs in a certain angle. Quite often its hard to aim correctly to hit enemies. I also really dislike the Ronald McDonald character, which you control as the hero. That guy is creepy and ugly. But doesn't change the overall good impression the game left with me.*** NESlabelimageminimize
