Al Unser Jr.'s Turbo Racing  Data East1989Get ready for racing action like you've never experienced it. Because Al Unser Jr.'s Turbo Racing is so much more than just a game you drive. It's a game you design, a game where everything - from the pit crew to the power boost, from the suspension to the speed, right down to the color of the racing machine itself - is in your control.
An entire racing season on the world's 16 toughest tracks lies ahead. Each demands its own strategy; Al Jr. will give you advice before every race. In the pusuit of the season's championship, you can set up and modify your own car, or climb behind the wheel of Little Al's maxxed-out machine.
Great graphics. Astounding action. If you're into racing, Al Unser Jr.'s Turbo Racing puts you into it like no other game around!***

B-Wings  Data East1986B-Wings is an arcade port and an overall below average vertical scrolling shoot 'em up game and Data East's first try on developing/porting a game for the Famicom themselves. The controls and the number of different extra weapons might be ok, but the whole package is just boring. Background graphics are especially uninteresting with just some color-swapping and some square-shaped somethings on the ground. NESlabelimageminimize
Bad Dudes  Data East;Namco;Ocean (Data East)1989The opponents in your battle for supremacy are four types of Evil Ninja star-throwing Assassins whose skills are many and dangerous! Also out to spoil your day are Acrobatic Women Warriors and vicious Guard Dogs. At the end of each level you must overcome the Ninja Master in order to progress. Some examples of these superhuman villains are: A fire-breathing Fat Man, an Armor Clad Giant and the Green and Gruesome Giant Ninja - who has a disconcerting habit of suddenly multiplying into an army!***

Battle Chess Data East (Beam Software)1990Did someone tell you chess is a civilized game played by civilized people? Forget it. Chess is war - a ruthless, cutthroat battle where one warrior lives to fight again and the other is left on the battlefield. With BATTLE CHESS you don't just imagine the battles, you experience them! You'll hear the clank of armor, as you watch dramatic, 3-dimensional animations of courageous heroes fight to protect their king. BATTLE CHESS is the most incredible chess game you've ever seen - where empires can be won - or lost! NESlabelimagesubject
Be-Bop High School: Koukousei Gokuraku Densetsu  Data East1988"Be-Bop High School: Koukousei Gokuraku Densetsu" is based on a long-running manga series about the advenuters of some high school boys, featuring quite a lot of wacky characters. I don't know the manga but the game seems to make good use of the license, capturing the atmosphere and characters nicely. While this game is basically an adventure game you spend much time with walking through the town from an overhead perspective. Over the time more and more locations become accessible. Some action scenes where you have to hit some other guys in the face are also included. The game also features a day-night cycle with certain actions only being possible at a certain time of the day. This combined with the fact that there is a general timelimit to complete the game and some random factors makes it rather hard to play without a walkthrough. Needless to say that you won't be able to follow the story when you don't understand Japanese. Graphically the game is pretty decent with some nice portraits and some funny looking situations. An underground world swarming with weird enemies, all out to prevent you from collecting the priceless diamonds just waiting to be mined. Breakthru  Data East1987The NES version of Breakthru is a good deal better than the extremely unplayable homecomputer versions, but still not an enjoyable game. Hop and shoot your way through boring enemy and level layouts.***Two players alternating with no interactions (alternating single player). There is driving but no racing in this game.

This is a side-scrolling vehicle shooter. You vehicle can maneuver in narrow space and jump on the mountains, bridge, plains, city, and airfield levels.

Bump 'N' Jump  Vic Tokai;Data East (SAS Sakata)1986Bump 'n' Jump is a reinterpretation of an arcade title of the same name. The general game concept stays the same. With your buggy you drive in top-down perspective towards the end of each level, trying to avoid other cars or ram them from the street. You must also frequently jump over big obstacles. Jumping on other cars is also a great way to dispose of them. Among the new things are updated graphics and music as well as a fuel meter. Once you run out of fuel you lose a life. Luckily there are fuel cans along the way which can and should be picked up. There are 16 levels in total with 4 different sceneries. Bump 'n' Jump is a typical representative of an average unspectacular game. Playable but it gets boring very soon. A little bit more enjoyable than the similar [game=#8152]Road Fighter[/game]. But that doesn't mean much. NESlabelimageminimize
BurgerTime  Data East;Namco (SAS Sakata)1985As Chef Peter Pepper, you must fend off the Food Foes while making perfect burgers! Use pinches of pepper to stun Mr. Hot Dog, Mr. Egg and Mr. Pickle, or lure them onto or under burger buns, lettuce, cheese or tomatoes to escape their clutches! Making perfect burgers gets progressively tougher through the six screens of BurgerTime!***A good conversion of an arcade classic. I personally think that the Famicom/NES version came a year or two too late to be considered impressive, since many other home versions were already available (e.g. the very good Colecovision port). Gameplay gets a bit old after a few tries and the difficulty level is rather high from the beginning.***Developed by Data East
Published by Namco Limited in Japan, 1985-11-27
NES-BR-USA published by Data East Corporation in USA, 1987-05

The player controls Chef Pepper while he makes giant hamburgers by walking over and knocking the layers of required ingredients off the giant lattice where they sit. Layers only fall one level of the lattice at a time. When one layer falls on another, it falls one level also. Hamburgers are complete when all the required layers are knocked to hamburger tray on the bottom. Required ingredients are bun, meat, lettuce, and bun. The optional ingredients, are the antagonists; Mr. Egg, Mr. Pickle, and Mr. Hot Dog. Apparently, fried eggs and hot dogs are a popular hamburger ingredients in the alternate universe where videogame characters live. Should they be caught between the falling required layers, they will become permanent ingredients. Otherwise they will kill Chef Pepper on contact. But Chef Pepper can pick up salt to protect himself. One sprinkle od salt will stun the optional ingredients long enough for Chef Pepper to walk past them.
