IPM Invader Irem1979A harder version of Space Invaders.
Great game, as it has a 'coffee break' after every three waves (patterns) of invaders, which gives the player a break from the intense invasion.
On the harder settings, the mothership that zips across the top of the screen drops eggs which hatch into more invaders. This has a habit of dropping invaders which are in sections that you have already cleared.

Paaman PART 2: Himitsu Kessha Madoodan o Taose!  Irem (Japan System House)1991The controls are awkward by design. Perman is a clutz, and the control scheme is designed to simulate his awkwardness. Perman is a word-play; "Superman" without the "Su". In the original Manga, Perman was apprentice to "Superman" (not _the_ Superman, but an obviously intended reference to the big blue boyscout).***Game description from Romhacking.net:

Paaman (or quite possibly Parman) is a comic in Japan which is done by the same guy who did Doraemon. Like that wasn’t already obvious just by looking at ‘em. All of the four characters that you have the choice of controlling have the amazing ability to fly in an amazingly awkward fashion. I don’t think there’s any difference in who you want to pick though. What’s awkward about flying is, if you’re flying Up and want to go Left, you don’t just automatically go Left when you hit the control pad... you go diagonally, then you go left. And you don’t sit still if you let go of the control pad, you have to hit A to stop. And then you have to hit A again to fall to the ground and walk around like normal. Which is all very weird. But you can jump REALLY high, so that’s cool.

There’s a side view, where you can fly, like what I was just talking about, and there’s a top view, where you walk around inside of buildings and stuff. You can’t fly though, but you can jump, which is pretty useless. What’s cool about this game is the sheer amount of fun crazy bonus rooms you can go into. I’ve found the "fly-around-and-break-crates-for-a-while" fun bonus room, and the "jump-around-on-these-tiles-but-they-break-after-you-jump-off-so-you-can-only-jump-on-each-tile-once" fun bonus room. And sometimes at the end of these rooms you can earn neat stuff, like new weapons or weapon upgrades. Sure beats your crappy punch.

Sqoon  Irem (Home Data)1986Sqoon is a horizontally scrolling shoot'em up game. The player controls a submarine where he not only has to shoot everything in sight but also has to rescue as many humans as possible from underwater farms (where they are held like cattle by hungry alien invaders *cough*). Only by delivering people or gold bars to the surface you can fill up necessary fuel. Without fuel or touching an enemy you die. The graphics are not very detailed, background graphics consist mainly of simple blue water. Controls are average. Worst part is the miserable hit detection and the boringness that comes as soon as you have seen two levels. There is virtually no variety in later levels. After the eighth stage the game starts at stage one with some more palette swapped backgrounds.***The proper name is "Sqoon", however, proper spelling would be Squoon. which is not the actual title of this game. Zippy Race  Irem1985A simple racing game. Race in five stages through the USA, racing over highways and mountain roads. After some time the game changes from top-down view to a third-person view, where you can see the city where the stage ends in the background. Crashing with other objects results in loosing a good amount of fuel. Once you are out of fuel the game is over. So you are advised to collect as much extra fuel along the way as possible. Plays like a repetitive reflex test. NESlabelimageminimize
