Kaiketsu Yanchamaru 3: Taiketsu! Zouringen  Irem (Micronics / Khaos)1993Game description from [[link:http://www.romhacking.net Romhacking.net]]:

Hey, this game ain’t so bad! In terms of the series, it beats the hell out of part 2, but it can’t quite live up to the standard set by the arcadey genius of the original Kid Niki (FU! FU! FUUUUUU!). Few games ever actually HAVE lived up to this standard, however, so you can’t really hold Kid Niki 3 accountable for such a failure. I guess.

Even if you’ve never played a Kid Niki game before, though, you should still check this one out; at first, it appears to be your average multiscrolling collect-the-keys-and-hit-stuff platformer, but there’s a surprising (for an NES game) amount of gameplay variety to be found here. Aside from running around, jumping, and bonking stuff with your bonking stick, you can also slide, charge up for a spin attack, and hang off of walls and ledges, among other such feats. The control’s a little floaty, and the game itself seems to suffer from…like, some weird constant jerky glitchiness (Kid Niki 3 appears to be programmed by the same people who did all those terrible early NES arcade ports like Ghosts’n Goblins and Athena, if that’s any indication), but other than that, it’s a colorful, happy little gem of a game. You play now!

Kung-Fu Master  Irem1984Horizontal Scrolling Beat'm up. Features five levels, each with a different boss.
The story of the game is that you are a (funnily enough) Kung Fu Master and you were attacked out-of-the-blue by some thugs. During the battle, they kidnapped your girlfriend Silvia. After the event you find a letter that reads 'If you want to save you're dear Silvia's life, come to the temple at once. 5 Sons of the devil will entertain you'. So off you go to get Silvia back.***The game is a simple enough concept - walk through five levels alternating from left to right, punching and kicking all manner of enemies ranging from simple henchmen who grab you and drain your energy, to dragons and falling snakes. The five devils the passage refers to are the end-of-level bosses, who start off pretty easy but then get ridiculously hard.
One such boss is a weird troll-like character whose head falls off if you hit it, so to beat him you have to hit him low - which is no easy task as he throws fire-bolts at you which take only two or three hits to kill you (assuming you have full energy in the first place!)

Bring that strength to the end of each stage to face off against and defeat the menacing bosses that aim to keep you from the princess. Moon Patrol  Irem;Williams1982...He can't let go!
Some say its the striking realism and perspective of the screen graphics that keep a player strapped to the controls. The realism that puts the entire responsibility for the safety of the planet on his shoulders. Others say its the intense action. The alien attack from over. head that takes on 3 deadly Norms and that keeps the player's linger hot on the trigger. simultaneously tiring missiles straight up at the UFOs and straight ahead to disintegrate obstacles. The bottomless craters waiting to swallow him up, the boulders and rolling stones in his path, the land mines, the cannons, the erupting volcanoes. the low-flying planes on his tail that keep him alert and ready to manipulate the jump button and speed control. The clock ticking away precious seconds in a race against time and space as he makes his way from point to point along the constantly changing and challenging course plotted on the radar screen. The incentive of making better time to earn bonus points: of scoring high to earn ext. Patrol Cars; of completing the beginner course to be awarded the more difficult champion course and of completing the champion lor another opportunity to better lime and skill. Still others say its the 250 option when all the Patrol Cars are destroyed to either start Over again or to pick up where the game ended. No one knows for sure why people are compelled to play Moon Patrol again and again and again. But cash-boxes prove they are Maybe you can figure it out if you play it yourself. Spelunker II: Yuushahe no Chousen  Irem (Now Production)1987For the sequel to Spelunker the developers changed quite a lot of gameplay elements. You can choose between one of three different characters (explorer, priest and esper) each with its own life and "holy" stat bonuses and different attacks/weapons. The way is often blocked by doors which need the appropriate key and there are also very few adventure/puzzle elements with hints hiding in bonus items. You explore a forest and underground caves in search for three orbs guarded by evil bosses to ultimately rescue a fairy kingdom. Well, Spelunker II is a bit better than its predecessor, but still the controls aren't the best. The most annoying thing about this game is the knockback effect you get from touching enemies which feels like pushing you back a quarter of the screen. That makes the knockback in games like Castlevania feel very tame in comparison. The levels have a rather complicated layout with exits not only to the left and right but also up and down and often strangely connected paths. But that seems to be typical for a Famicom/NES game of that time, probably hoping to sell more hint books in Japan *ahem*.*** NESlabelimageminimize
