64 Oozumou | Bottom Up | 1997 | platformreference sumo | 64 Ōzumō is a sumo wrestling game. As in the original sport, goal of the relatively short matches (measured in seconds) is to push the opponent out of the fighting area. The game uses 3D areas, the analogue stick for movement and C-button combinations to perform moves. Besides exhibition matches and various tournaments there also is a career mode which features decisions and minigames between matches, which influence the sumo wrestler's statistics, for example choosing the diet or fishing. The game uses a comic look and some of the eight areas feature unusual places such as the Moon or Egypt.****** [32] | N64 | labelimagesubject |
64 Oozumou 2 | Bottom Up | 1999 | platformreference sumo | 64 Ōzumō 2 is the sequel to the original *64 Ōzumō* game, bringing back the exciting world of traditional Japanese sumo wrestling to gaming enthusiasts. Players once again take control of their choice of a sumo wrestler and compete against others in a variety of matches, including one-on-one matches, tag team matches, and battle royales. Players must use their skills and strategic thinking to push their opponents out of the ring or make them touch the ground with any body part other than their feet. The game includes an expanded roster of wrestlers, each with their unique fighting styles, moves, and techniques. Players can choose to play as their favorite wrestlers or create their own character and customize their appearance, moves, and stats. 64 Ōzumō 2 features several game modes, including Exhibition, Tournament, and Story modes. In Exhibition mode, players can play a single match against any opponent of their choice. The Tournament mode allows players to participate in a full season of matches, competing against other wrestlers to win the championship. The Story mode offers a unique narrative experience, where players create their own wrestler and embark on a journey to become the ultimate sumo wrestling champion. The game's graphics and sound design have been improved and updated from the original game. The game also includes a multiplayer mode, allowing players to compete against each other in local multiplayer matches. | N64 | labelimagesubject |

Amiga Encounter | Novagen | 1991 | firstpersonshooter platformreference | Encounter! is a fast paced arcade game set in a sci-fi environment which features fast moving three dimensional graphics. You command a probe vehicle with which you have to shoot down enemy saucers and homing missiles. When you have shot down the required number of enemies on one level (usually around 10-20) you get the chance to go through a "stargate". In the stargate you have to navigate through a hail of spheres coming at you at high speed. If you succeed you get to a new planet in different color scheme, if you fail you'll have to replay the previous planet. Amsgolf | Amsoft;Computersmith | 1984 | golf platformreference | WELCOME TO THE AMSOFT GOLF COURSE This exciting new computer simulation of an 18 hole golf course will enable you to improve your skill level of the game, in other words, lower your handicap. The main object of the game is to play the course of 18 holes in as few strokes as possible, thus improving your handicap. The game assumes a right handed player. A stroke is played each time the ball is hit. The course is set in woodland and deep grass called 'rough'. The smoother grass is called the 'fairway'. Hazards are put in your way to make your game more difficult. Water hazards consist of lakes and streams. If your ball lands in a lake then the stroke must be played again from where you played the shot originally. If you land the ball in a stream, the next stroke is played from the edge of the water furthest away from the green. Remember, it is possible to hit the ball further on the fairway han from the rough. So try and stay on the fairway! Each hole is different and they all require a lot of thought in deciding the correct club for each stroke played, and how hard to hit the ball. Asteroids Hyper 64 | Activision (Syrox) | 1999 | arenashooter asteroids asteroidslike consoleclassix platformreference space | For those unaware few, the original Asteroids arcade game had players piloting a wedge- shaped spacecraft through an asteroid field, pulverizing the rocks into progressively smaller chunks. It was brilliantly simple and--still today - entirely addictive. Crave Entertainment's new take on this classic provides Nintendo 64 gamers with 3-D graphics and plenty of clever upgrades and new features. Pilots now choose between three varieties of spacecraft, each with unique firepower, shield levels, and maneuverability. Dodging and weaving among the floating obstacles, players progress through 50 levels, demolishing and avoiding comet-like asteroid projectiles, space junk, and species upon species of aggressive alien beings and ships, as well as the classic, garden-variety asteroids. New weapons and power-ups occasionally float by, providing much-needed boosts of firepower or, say, the ability to temporarily ram enemies or asteroids into oblivion. Extensive multiplayer features include competitive, cooperative, and team play variations.*** [27] | N64 | labelimagesubject |

Baku Bomberman 2 | Hudson (Hudson Soft) | 1999 | bomberman consoleclassix platformreference | Bomberman and his new companion Pommy are back in a new explosive action-adventure for the Nintendo 64. Returning from a vacation at luxurious Hot Springs Planet Ksa2 after his first adventure, Bomberman finds Planet Bomber in disarray. Naturally, it's up to our hero to catch the culprit and save the universe (ah, the life of a game hero). It seems that the conniving Rukifellth has somehow managed to build himself a black hole, the perfect tool for capturing planets and enslaving the peaceful inhabitants. Bomberman and Pommy must destroy the gravity generators on each planet and capture the seven powerful stones that provide Rukifellth with the power to do wrong. The team is stocked with plenty of bombs to get through this adventure. Bomberman's firebomb is his staple weapon that explodes in four different directions. The ice bomb freezes water, objects, and enemies. A hurricane bomb blows the hero over impassible terrain. A lightning bomb fries circuitry in equipment and robots, and a Navarm bomb packs a powerhouse of a punch towards foes. In addition to the single-player adventure, a multiplayer mode for up to four bombers provides plenty of action after Bomberman sets off for his next vacation. | N64 | labelimagesubject |
