Bahamut Lagoon | Square | 1996 | A top view strategy from Square. Has lots of dragons and stuff. It's quite a change to raise your dragons, eventually you'll have to breed a baby too!! Ball Bullet Gun: Survival Game Simulation | I'MAX;BETOP (Betop) | 1995 | Game description from [[link:http://agtp.romhack.net/ Aeon Genesis]]: Ball Bullet Gun is a strategy game, a simulation of Japanese 'survival games' (read: war games.) The closest American approximation is paintball, but that's not quite right. The game itself is fairly cute, but there are a lot of things to take into account when planning your strategies, and it provides a surprising amount of depth for a deceptively simple game. There really isn't any story to speak of, at least not that I know of, but if you're looking for a decent strategy game, this should work wonderfully. Black/Matrix Zero | NEC Interchannel (Flight-Plan) | 2002 | Little known SRPG (Strategy RPG) released by NEC. Black/Matrix ZERO in Game Boy Advance is actually the sequel to the Black/Matrix game released on the Sega Saturn. The game bears strong resemblances with Final Fantasy Tactics (Advance) and tends to use a variety of animated cutscenses in between battles. Definitely worth checking out -- if you understand some Japanese. [CrossFire]***Mediocre SRPG port of the Sega Saturn original. Can't say much about the Saturn version since I haven't played it, but lets hope it's better than the GBA version. The game consists purely of some cut-scenes with dialogue and battles that get old fast from repetitiveness and lack of ingenuity. Better stick with Final Fantasy Tactics, Front Mission or Tactics Ogre instead. Incomplete unofficial English translation available: [[link:http://www.romhacking.net]] NB: this game is the sequel and not the port of the Sega Saturn version. Code Name S.T.E.A.M. | Nintendo (Intelligent Systems) | 2015 | Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. is a new take on strategy games inspired by third-person shooters. Like the Fire Emblem and Advance Wars games before it, Code Name S.T.E.A.M. tasks players with planning out strategic moves using a team of soldiers to do battle with enemy forces. But this game throws a wrench into many of the conventions familiar to the genre.*** [12] | 3DS | labelimagesubject |

Crystal Warriors | Sega | 1991 | Crystal Warriors is a marvelous little turn-based fantasy strategy game, something that strips the tactical elements of games such as Shining Force or the Fire Emblem series down to their basic combat elements and lets you play through those, kind of like chess if your pieces leveled up between matches and were trying to take over an enemy castle. Additional features include the ability to do reconnaissance and arm your warriors in town. Fight and tame beasts to use against your enemies, and take advantage of six unique classes to train and deploy. Bonus feature! You can now play this game over local multiplayer on your 3Ds (both players need to have a copy of the game).***アーリエル is in some places mistranslated as Ariel (アリエル) when it's in fact Arliel. | Game Gear | labelimagesubject |
