Lead Me Not... author2012Each player takes on the persona of a diety with influence over the world of men; either a corrupting but foulable "evil" deity, or an all-knowing but remote "good" diety. In the world is the soul of one man, living his life. The two competing dieties, through successive incarnations of the man's soul, are both striving to either lift the soul to Salvation or drag it down to Damnation.

There are various different temptations which the evil one may scatter throught the world - Lust, Gluttony, Greed, etc. In each of the soul's incarnations these temptations will have greater or lesser allure (detremined randomly at the start of each incarnation); however, the evil one doesn't know how strongly any given temptation will draw on the soul.

Also, in each incarnation there is one goal which will help to elevate the soul along its path to Salvation - Chastity, Temperance, Charity, etc. The all knowing kindly god knows, in advance, how strongly each temptaion will effect the soul. Knowing this, the kindly god may alter (unbeknownst to the evil one) one of the temptaions from a downward dragging vice into an uplifting virtue.

Once this is done, the current lifetime begins and the evil one places the temptations into the world as the soul in question is allowed to roam the world (freely, not controlled by either player) to interact with the temptaions as he is drawn to each.

Each lifetime lasts a single "day," at the end of which it is determined whether or not the soul ascends or descends the karmic ladder.

Here's the catch, the kindly god can only alter each temptation into a virture once (ie - Gluttony into Temperance), so with each successive incarnation the number of vices which can be altered decreases and the evil one can begin to try and figure out which vices must still be vices and then choose whether or not to sprinkle more of those vices into the world.

Once all the vices have been switched to virtues once, and assuming the soul hasn't hit ultimate Salvation/Damnation, the availablity of vices to be changed resets and play continues through successive lives until the soul reaches its ultimate resting place.

Let the games begin!
