Drinking and driving University of Illinois? The game asks the player their weight and age. It then proceeds to a text adventure where the player starts by attending a party. The player can engage in several entertainment activities at the simulated party including partaking in a range of food and alcoholic beverages. When the party ends, the must find a way home. Most players will choose to drive themselves home if they brought their own car, this is the simplest choice. They can also get a ride, drive someone else's car, or call a cab (which costs money). The bar for computer games was not very high at this point in history. But the game wasn't very long either.
Then the car with the player in it is shown driving down the road. The terrain is randomly generated, there are telephone poles, turns, bridges, trees, and other cars. The vehicle may not go strait down the road depending on how impaired the driver is. The driver may or may not be the player depending on their choice. Their impairment is calculated by age, weight, and how much they ate and drank at the party. The police may stop the vehicle, it may crash into the terrain or another vehicle. There may be deaths involved, including the player's and people in the other car(s). There may be arrests, fines, and jail time. Thus the game has a serious message about drinking and driving, which the player may not have even considered when they were at the party and never having played the game before. Perhaps they wouldn't consider the consequences of drinking and driving in real life. Perhaps they wouldn't have consider the consequences of drinking and riving to be something to occur in a game. Either way, its meant to shock the player.
Also, the player may not even make it to the car. They might drink to much at the party and an ambulance called. They could also go into a coma or die if they drink way too much. If they pass out and do not come to, they have no say in how they get home but the player still watches the car driving.
This game was often mislabeled in order to not give away the surprise ending.
