Ms. Pac-Man | Atarisoft (Quality Software) | 1983 | apples bananas bootloader cherries claiming display-cga display-cga-composite femaleprotagonist ghosts instantdeath lives pacman pacmanlike score | Ms PAC-MAN scores points by eating the dots in the maze whilst avoiding the ghosts. Flashing Power Pills are located in each corner of the screen. Eating a Power Pill will turn the ghosts blue with fright for a few seconds, during which time Ms PAC-MAN may chomp the ghosts to score more points for each ghost she catches. They will blink before they turn back to their true colours and then Ms PAC-MAN had better beware! When Ms PAC-MAN has eaten all the dots, she reappears in a new maze where the ghosts move faster. In each successive maze, it becomes harder for Ms PAC-MAN to eat all the dots without being caught. Ms PAC-MAN can travel from one side of the screen to the other by using the Escape tunnels. The pursuing ghosts are slowed down through these tunnels so make good use of them... At the begining of the game Ms PAC-MAN has five lives. She is rewarded with an extra life when she reaches 10,000 points. Extra points can be earned by eating the bonus fruits which appear from time to time. If Ms PAC-MAN is caught by a ghost then she loses one of her five lives.*** | labelimagesubject |

Pharaoh's Tomb | Apogee (Micro FX Software) | 1990 | archeologistprotagonist download egyptian-theme instantdeath licensechange lives nofalldamage platformer score uvl-techlimitation | Pharaoh's Tomb is an arcade-adventure game set in a huge Egyptian pyramid. Explore 20 uniquely-dangerous levels riddled with ingenious puzzles and traps. You start with five lives and a few spears, which can he thrown at offending denizens that patrol the pyramid. Pharaoh's Tomb consists of four unique volumes, which concludes with "Nevada's Revenge." [3D Realms.com]***Released as freeware in March 2009.***Nevada Smith has discovered artifacts that lead to a genuine lost tomb of an Egyptian pharaoh. Nevada Smith is tired of being a professor's assistant and like Dr. Henry Jones Jr., thinks he can find fortune and glory in archeology. But his boss, who is technically a real archaeologist, thinks he can loot the tomb as a retirement fund. Smith races to get inside the pyramid first, but he's trapped. In run'n'jump style, he must avoid pits, spikes, traps, and the pharaoh's breath while finding keys and collecting the artifacts for the museum. Also, the previous residents are still about and quite lively; bats, mummies and other monsters abound. Not quite defenseless, Smith can toss spears he happens to find but he lacks the skill to use them in hand-to-hand combat (a real archaeologist could figure it out) The game is divided into four episodes:

Nevada Smith and the Raiders of the Lost Tomb
Nevada Smith and the Pharaoh's Curse
Nevada Smith and the Temple of Terror
Nevada's Revenge
The first episode was distributed as shareware and the remaining episodes came with the shareware version. It runs amazing well on very ancient hardware and uses CGA graphics for increased legacy compatibility. Apogee discontinued sales of this game in 2000. Hence, the entry would appear as publish by "Micro F" and "X Software". Percent codes and ampersand codes both fail to work around this limitation. [Zerothis] | labelimagesubject |
