The Dark Convergence - (Jeff kintz)1993his is a very rare horror adventure game. The plot is simple: one night the player and some friends have a car crash on a near-deserted road. The player is sent out to search for some help and stumbles on an abandoned house. Inside it bloody bodies are found, and unknown menaces from other worlds and other dimensions try to kill the player. Will you survive the night and save the day? The game is programmed in QBasic (there is even the .bas file inside the game's folder) and the engine is similar to the one used in the Hugo's House of Horror series. The player controls the character with arrow keys and types the desired action using the parser. The game focuses on a morbid atmosphere and on violence with many nasty and gory situations in it. The plot and atmosphere for some ideas are reminiscent of Dark Seed.

The Legend of the Condor Heroes  Soft-World International1993This is the first game adaptation of the first part of the popular literary trilogy "Condor", written by Hong Kong writer Jin Yong (English name - Louis Cha ). The game uses the engine of the previous colorful RPG creation of Soft-World - Legend of Power Book. The plot of the first part of the trilogy tells us about the beginning of the invading army of the Jurchen Jin on the ground of the Song Dynasty in northern China. First, a strong male friendship between two soldiers - Jan Tesin and Guo Xiaotian. They fought shoulder to shoulder with the army Jin invaders. The friendship was so strong that they have agreed that if their future children will be of the same sex, they will be named brothers (or sisters), and if they are of different sexes - that they will be a married couple. Then Guo Xiaotian died and Yang Tesin went missing. The main part of the book is devoted to their children (both boys), whose names are Guo Jing and Yang Kang. The first was honest, kind, truthful, but a bit rustic, and the second is intelligent, cunning and vindictive. Over time, fate brings them together like this and like their fathers. But throughout the novel, the treacherous Yang Kang is revealed to be getting stronger and stronger. He planned to Jurchen invaders seize his native land Sung. But with the help of Guo Jing Jing army of Mongols break, and Yang Kang overtakes the punishing hand of fate. You will play a character Guo Jing, along the way meeting friends and other characters from the literary work. Many people mistakenly classify this game as just another RPG but in fact it is not. This is a typical genre of Adventure, since there are no RPG-parameters of the character. You just need to walk, to talk to people and take action. Main action is very short: talk (icon "conversation"), walking (the icon "man") and do (icon "hand"). There are more icons - a sword and a rag to wipe something. Discussions are displayed in the window with the image of the person speaking. If it is a thought to oneself, the text is enclosed in angle brackets. If it's just overheard conversations from the side it will not be a portrait of the speaker. For each correct action sequence made, gaming events will be transferred to the new state. In the story, you can move from one locality to another. In this case, you will be presented a general plan of the settlement and its individual species near buildings or on the streets. Learn the purpose of a house on the same map, you can use the menu item "eye". Gaming mouse will be painted in three different colors (red, yellow and green) when you hover over objects, people or animals. Green color means that the action is possible. Graphics resolution is the same as in the game Legend of Power Book and uses a similar method of vectorization: Chinese style and a limited set of contrasting colors. Actors in the frame can be a lot and they are pretty well animated.

Skyworker Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie (The Art Department)1994It's the 22nd century. To unburden the situation in the crowded cities huge platforms with research facilities, factories and living areas have been built in the sky. You play a young man or woman who has just finished school and gets the chance to live in SkyCity, one of those platforms. But there is one condition. You have to find an apprenticeship within three months if you don't want to be sent back to the surface.

Skyworker is a game by the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Labour that simulates the application process for an apprenticeship. In fact, Skyworker is a life simulation. Börnie's Journey Österreichische Bundesbahn (Top Job)1994The old question: What is faster, the train or the car? So even in Austria in the 90s, there were already negotiations about which wheels would get you from A to B faster. This is also the case with the main character of this nice game by Tob Job. Börnie bets with his friends that he can visit all the capitals of Austria by train within 80 hours and also complete a task in each city. While his friends are on the road by car.

As always with Top Job, there are very nicely pixelated graphics in this game, even if the graphic style is a bit more unusual this time than in the other games. In terms of gameplay, the game stays within the standard of the genre without standing out negatively or positively. So it's definitely worth a look for adventure fans.

In the Dead of Night Trecision1995In one of the better but sadly less-known shareware games, you are private investigator Tom Scool. You have been hired by a dishonest jewel collector to sneak into a famous actress' chalet, posing as the double of well-known thriller writer Eric Wells, and to steal her precious gem "Vesnú". But the actress was killed by one of her guests and because of snowstorm you have to wait for police and try to solve this murder case by yourself. Every character has their own personality and you have to find their weakest places, talking to all of them and collecting the items which are available for your inventory. The game sports some good puzzles, believable characters, and an excellent plot. Overall, an atmospheric game that could easily have sold as a commercial game, and boded well for Trecision's later adventure games, including the outstanding Nightlong.

Arnie Goes 4 Gold Bank Austria AG (Top Job)1994This is a promotional game by an Austrian bank. It's a humorous adventure which plays with many Austrian stereotypes - it begins with the name of the protagonist: Arnie. After the death of his rich uncle Fritz he inherits a key to a house - but first he has to find it. The handling is similar to the SCUMM system found in the classic LucasArts adventures: You select between six verbs to interact with your surroundings. Unlike most adventures you can take several objects with you which have no use in the game. The puzzles mostly center around finding hidden items and using them in a creative way. And, of course, the usage of services provided by Bank Austria. This game was linked with a lottery.

Lethal Tender Froggman (Pie in the Sky Software)1993Lethal Tender's graphics are similar to those of Wolfenstein 3D. Bad boy Nick Hunter must thwart the evil Thorne Devereaux's plan to coat U.S. currency with a time delayed explosive by infiltrating his base and mowing down swarms of identical nameless guards. Shoot guards, collect colored keys to open doors, pick up more powerful weapons — you know the drill. The game does set itself apart from other shareware FPS with the addition of inventory screen, some inventive level design, and some semblance of plot development.

Auf der Suche nach Dr. Gara ARAG (Promotion Software)1994This is a free advertising game to promote ARAG insurance company. We have to go to Dinotown to solve the mystery of the prehistoric beings populating the city. Well, that's about the entire plot. First, we are approached by a dangerous dinosaur that compels us to enter name and address in a form, so that we come into possession of an identity document. We then find us on orientation map again, which makes up virtually the most gameplay. So we are at any of the countless villages only a short time and then land again on the map - assuming you will not be eaten by a giant lizard, because you have given a wrong answer. You go aimlessly through this area. There is an ice cream parlor, a car dealership, a golf course, a hospital, a radio tower, yes, even a disco. Only the ARAG insurance agency that employs the only human contact can help out sometimes. In addition, in the inventory a lot of great items are accumulated, which can not be considered because you do not know in 80% of cases what they are supposed to represent. There are no right puzzles, the difficulty is to find out at what place in Dinotown currently something can be done. The game seems designed for children and the graphics are static.

This we learn in the intro of the promotional adventure for a savings bank. The cost of the game was quite remarkable for the time, at least in the advertising game sector. Integrated voice output, music on the cd as well as graphics of LucasArts level raise the game to a welcome change from the crowd.

The Secret of Donkey Island  Vochozka Trading (Pterodon Software)1994This is a parody on the glorious Monkey Island games... A pirate-wannabe Gaybush Nosehair must travel to the dangerous Donkey Island, to find a treasure and to face his enemy - the ghost-pirate LeDuck. The interface is pretty much the same like in first two Monkey Island games, and the graphics are also very similar. The development of "Tajemstvi Osliho ostrova" started after two students of the same high school - Jarek Kolar and Petr Vlcek first met. They worked on the game for fun and only in their free time. The programmer coded the whole game on a school's computer because he didn't have his own. After two years of development they contacted Petr Vochozka (the only one Czech publisher of games at those times) and signed a publishing deal with him. On June 20, 2000 (exactly 6 years after its first release) it was released as freeware.

Softporn II ?1985In the shadowy dives of Hoboken, New York, a lust-crazed man seals a final tryst with an old flame on the eve of her permanent relocation to far Denmark with her husband.

This is a game that simulates a sexual exchange between a man (the player) and a simulated woman. Taking initial user input for the players' names, personality traits and measurements, it equips them with appropriate adjectives and behaviors and points them in the direction of the player's garret.

Actual game input overlooks the strengths of a text parser, with viable options including various combinations of vanilla erogenous zones with hands and mouths. When the arousal levels of both parties is sufficient (both the male being flagged with "hard" status and the woman with "wet" -- indicated by the game via the report command) simulated penetration is allowed.

Kajko i Kokosz Mirage Software (Seven Stars Multimedia)1995A pair of inseparable friends - smart, short, yet brave Kajko and his buddy, big, bald, fat, strong & gluttonous Kokosz - must face again the notorious Zbojcerze (Rogueknights) and their evil plot set to conquer the peaceful village of Mirmilowo. The early medieval setting and fantasy themes resemble "Asterix & Obelix". Kajko i Kokosz is a classic point & click adventure game, based on a popular Polish comic book series featuring the same characters. You can switch between the two characters at will, and some actions have to be done with a specific character. The controls are pretty simple - to interact with the environment, you just have to click. You have a limited space in your inventory, but you can take an object from your inventory and drop it anywhere at any time. The game graphics feature original artwork created by the creator of the series, Janusz Christa, thus retaining the "look & feel" of the comic books.

Bud Tucker in Double Trouble Merit Studios;Topware Interactive (Merit Studios)1996This wacky adventure puts you in the shoes of Bud Tucker, a pizza delivery boy who also has a job as a lab assistant during the nights. The story involves some fantastic features, mad scientist and robots. One day, Bud found the Professor missing and later learns he's been kidnapped by the evil Dick Tate. Tate, an insane, whiny sob wishes to create a world filled with the people he loves most...himself. To do that, he plans to use one of the Professor's inventions and clone a billion versions of himself to populate the world. It's up to Bud Tucker to track down the loon and the Professor before Barryville becomes Tate Town. It's a point & click adventure where you must travel to various locations in Barryville and find clues and help from the citizens there. The game play consists of picking up items and using them when necessary. There are 3 parts in the game and in the first part, Bud Tucker is locked up in a crumbly hotel in Seedy Street. Speech is available in the game as well as subtitles. The menu (pick up, use, etc) can be displayed in words as well as icons. This cartoon adventure is sadly little known because Eidos cancelled its plan to distribute the game in the U.S... probably due to poor sales in Europe, which is probably due to lack of marketing. Because: it's a fun and solid game in every respect with a wacky plot, though disappointingly short.***

The Punisher MicroProse (Paragon Software)1990Murder, vigilantism, revenge, bloody shootouts, family massacres, orgies, animal and human sacrifice, satanism... This was published by Microprose boys and girls. Sure, they do a lot of war simulations with implied violence (killing billions), but I can't recall them ever using so much up-close and personal depictions of so many mature subjects.

Apparently the copy protection questions the game asks about the manual are based on an entirely different manual.
