Cyberstrip Poker | Rapture Interactive | 1995 | Cyberstrip Poker is a futuristic, sci-fi themed strip poker game set in the distant future. Each player starts out with $1000, minimum bet is $5 and maximum bet is set as $100. Every time the opponent's cash reaches zero, she takes off one article of clothing, and the player is treated to a full-screen video. The player is only allowed to discard three out of five cards in this game. There is no call button; the player has to pay attention anytime the opponent raises, and manually add the last bet and the raise amount. To fold, the player needs to reduce the bet amount to below $5 and "Fold" will appear as the amount of the bet. There is a hide/panic button (the atomic symbol looking button in the bottom right corner of the screen) which quickly launches a Macintosh-looking screen. | labelimagesubject |

Different balloons are introduced during the game including candy balloons which give the player 50 points for each piece of candy caught, paint-bucket balloons which change the player's color depending on the balloon, and question mark balloons which give the player a power-up such as Fireman Pep. Based on Raven Software's in-house Vampire engine, Take No Prisoners was developed concurrently with MageSlayer from July 1996 - August 1997 and was released by Red Orb Entertainment, a division of Broderbund Software. Originally called RIOT (and subsequently Outrage), Take No Prisoners pioneered a new variation of top-down gameplay made popular by the arcade classic Gauntlet by setting the character at the bottom of the screen and exploring the world from a 2 ½D view. This innovation was hailed as a "fresh new perspective" and a "breath of fresh air" in the action gaming genre. Take No Prisoners shipped with 30 single-player levels, 22 different enemies, 21 weapons, 22 combat items, 3 usable vehicles and a variety of multiplayer game modes including deathmatch, capture the flag, arsenal and assassin. In addition, Take No Prisoners was one of the first games to hit the market that took full advantage of 3-D hardware acceleration and colored lighting. [Raven] | labelimagesubject |
