Player versus player (PvP) - 1995 to 2024
Multiplayer games where players can or must compete against other players instead of or in addition to artificially generated challenges.
Player versus player only (Pure PvP) - 1995 to 2015
Multiplayer games that have no AI controlled opponents.
Anti player killing[player killer killing] - 2001 to 2003
Has some system to aid in player driven justice. Likely marking players that have killed another player unprovoked, except those that kill players marked with such.
Open PvP (Free PvP;Unrestricted PvP) - 2003 to 2018
At any point, players may be attacked and defeated by other players without prior consent, and there is no way to opt-out of this PvP (such as by selecting another type of server).
Player versus player focus (PvP focus) - 2003 to 2014
Has both PvE and PvP but the latter is in more prominent role.
