Founded in 1982 closed in 1988
Status: dead
Country: U.K.

aka(s): Ultimate

Founders: Tim Stamper, Chris Stamper

Parent company: Ashby Computers & Graphics Ltd. (ACG)

Made games for ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64 and BBC Micro.

A lot of Ultimate's releases don't include credits, but these are likely made by the two Stamper brothers (former arcade developers) and Tim's wife, Carol (graphics artist). Other developers, if such existed, were credited (though if this was for all cases, it is ambiguous due to lack of credits).

The company name was sold to U.S. Gold around 1986-1987 who then published Martianoids and Bubbler under the company name without any involvement of the Stamper brothers. ACG later bought back the Ultimate name, but released no games under it.

The Ultimate trade name was left behind when ACG moved to develop on newer platforms, for which a new division was founded: Rare Ltd.

It is known for Jetman, Sabreman
