Gust Co. Ltd. was founded in 1993, originally developing games for PCs. They released the first game in the Atelier franchise in 1997. They mostly developed exclusive for Playstation platforms.

In December 2011, Koei Tecmo acquired Gust from Keiken Holdings for 2.2 billion yen. It was fully absorbed as a division of Koei Tecmo in July 28, 2014.
