Airheart was a 'real-time scene simulation' game for the Apple IIe, created by Dan Gorlin ("Choplifter"), with graphics by Chris Green, David Bunnett, and Pam Stalker. The game took about a year to create and was released (to good reviews but a market shrinking in preference to other machines/platforms) in 1986 through Brøderbund Software. It was later ported to the Amiga as "Typhoon Thompson" (without proper credit given to the original artists). The gameplay takes place on an ocean planet, over which the main character flies in a jet-engined sled. The player fends off and shoots a clever assortment of enemies (which, in different combinations, create complex strategies) and retrieves various magical items. The ending "final award" animation (described as "charming but unfulfilling") involves rescuing a baby prince from a floating glass dome encasement.
