Personal review

"Tanigawa Kouji no Shogi Shinan II" is already the third Shogi game for the Famicom/NES and ported to cartridge a few months after the Famicom Disk System version was released. On the one hand I don't need another Shogi game, especially not for this system and nobody will honestly think of playing this. On the other hand it had some interesting options for the time of its release. Besides the standard mode that lets you play against a CPU player, there is also a "problem solving" mode that let you try to "solve" a certain endgame situation, and a "best next move" mode in which you have to decide which one is the most advantageous move.
