Aquanaut Addictive Games;Miles Computing (Fissionchip Software)1989In Aquanaut, the protagonist has to find and kill the leader of an alien race which wants to destroy Earth. This alien is smart and is not easy to find, but humanity managed to track him down to an underwater location in the Caribbean. The game is divided into three levels with distinctive different gameplay mechanics.

The first level is a traditional, horizontally scrolling shooter. The protagonist, equipped with diving gear, has to make his way to the alleged position of the alien ship. Enemies are mutated underwater animals which are shot with the harpoon. There are also friendly creatures like dolphins and mermaids (their kiss gives an extra life) and military crates which contain additional gear. Air is limited and has to be refilled at certain parts of the level.

In level two, the player has to investigate an underwater maze. He needs to find and grab various items which are used at another place to proceed. This section is puzzle-oriented and the action concentrates on obstacles which need to be avoided and single enemies.

Level three is also a maze in which objects need to be found (a decoder and keys) which need to be brought to a final location. However, it is set on land (Atlantis, to be exact) and therefore air is no longer an issue. The fights take a "run and gun" approach where the player shoots a lot of aliens and dodges their attacks. In this section the game flips the screen when another room is entered.***

Football Manager Addictive Games1982The original and best football management game. Without this, the Championship Manager series would not be here. Simple but fantastic. In the top 5 all time influential spectrum games without a doubt.

Football Manager Prism Leisure Corporation (Addictive Games)1990The disk label says "Exclusively distributed by Prism Leisure Corporation PLC Copyright 1988".
But I wonder who really programmed this version, because Prism Leisure is a company who often re-releases games (I wish I had the box and/or the manual). Perhaps it was Addictive who also did the second game, but I'm not sure. And I couldn't find anything about this first "Football Manager" for Amiga anywhere in the Internet (only FM 2 and FM World Cup Edition). And what disturbs me even more is that when I start the game it says "Copyright 1990 Prism Leisure plc". But this would mean it was released AFTER Football Manager 2! Hmmm...I really think I got a re-release of this game. If someone knows better then please correct the publisher and copyright information.
Edit: HOL confirms a 1990 release of Football Manager, being released 2 years after the sequel.

Football Manager Addictive Games1984The football management game style has been one of the most enduring since Kevin Toms pioneered it in 1982. You start in the 4th division with the team of your choice, and can play on indefinitely in the hope of reaching the top division and dominating it, as well as winning the cups. Players can be bought or sold, with their transfer values varying according to the size of any bid. Their skills and morale vary as the season goes on, with resting key players in easy matches often a key move. You can take out a loan, limited depending on your division, while day-to-day bills must be covered. Matches feature short animated highlights sequences of key moments.

Football Manager World Cup Edition Addictive Games1990The aim is to manage your team through to winning te WORLD CUP FINAL. Unlike previous Football Manager games there is no requirement to deal with anything other than team tactics, positioning and individual player management.

What makes this game uniquely brilliant is the fact that you now have total control of each player in terms of instructing him on things like passing forwards, backwards, long kicks, short kicks etc.

Another major factor is morale. This subtley affects your teams performance. So what you say to the newspaper press is important. If the reporters believe and support what you say, they will print positive information about your team and it will boost their morale.

You can also affect your team's morale by what you say to them before and halfway through a game.

Head Coach  Addictive Games1986
[52]***This is an American Football Sports Strategy/Simulation game for the ZX Spectrum and C64, which can be played for season after season as the Head Coach attempts to build the best possible squad, plays each ten game regular-season (calling the plays as the game is played) and if successful takes part in playoffs with the aim of getting to the Super Bowl.
The 'College draft' at the end of the season is a favourite feature. Although the graphics were fairly simple Head Coach was certainly addictive and the gameplay challenging.
Written by Simon Davies of Wirral (near Liverpool), England in 1986 and published by Addictive Software of Bournemouth who had had a previous hit with Football Manager. Head Coach reached No 3 in the UK charts in September 1986, coinciding with the popularity of American Football in Europe.
The author had gained a knowledge of the game by helping to run a British American Football team called the Wirral Wolves along with real-life 'Head Coach' Chicago Police Sergeant George Aguado who died earlier this year.
The game has no relation to another 'Head Coach' later released by players software.

Hotshot  Addictive Games (Maxwell Technology)1989
[22]***HOTSHOT is a futuristic sports simulation, in which you must (as usual) beat your opponent.

This is done by using your Graviton Gun to attract a deadly plasma ball, and firing it at a variety of pinball-style bumpers and blocks.

Press FIRE on your joystick to attract the ball (release it to let it go - you cannot hold the ball too long or it will blow you up), but be careful, if it hits any part of you beside the end of your Graviton Gun, you will be destroyed.

Hint: Use your Graviton Gun to affect the flight of the ball.

When holding the ball or trying to attract it, the directions of the joystick set the direction the gun points.

When not pressing FIRE, you can run (or bounce) left and right by moving the joystick LEFT or RIGHT. Pulling it down will make you duck.

There are five characters (seven on 16-bit machines), each with slightly different playing characteristics.
