Block Out | Electronic Arts;Sega (California Dreams) | 1991 | [169]*** [26]*** [64]*** [63]*** [52]*** [37]*** [32]***If you're tired of the limitations placed on 2D puzzle games like TETRIS, then you're ready for BLOCKOUT for the Sega Genesis. Random 3D shapes will come tumbling down towards the bottom of your well, and you've got to twist and turn them to build complete layers that will disappear when fully assembled. There are 11 difficulty levels, ranging from novice to advanced, and you can even go head-to-head against a friend. When you complete a layer, it's moved over to your opponent's stack! As if that weren't enough, you can even design your own puzzles-the only limitation is your imagination. You can customize the game using 750 different starting combinations of block sets and wells, so you'll rarely see the same combo twice. So jump into the third dimension with BLOCKOUT. You'll wonder how you ever enjoyed a 2D game! * Twist 3D blocks agains the clock! * 2 players go head-to-head * 750 addictive game combinations!***Tetris in 3D! | Mega Drive | labelimagesubject |
Blockout | California Dreams (PZK Development Group) | 1989 | Easy to play, difficult to master, impossible to quit. Sit back and get comfortable before you open this box. You might not be moving from your computer for a while, because once you start in with the 3-D blocks, you'll be hooked. You'll begin with the playing pit, a 3-D enclosure with length, width, and depth that you can set. During the game, various 3-D blocks will fall into the pit. Your job is to rotate and maneuver each of them into the proper position in order to form complete layers. As each layer is completed, it vanishes, giving you more points and more room to work. Blockout will challenge your reflexes and your resolve in a test of coordination and quick thinking. But the greatest challenge of all will be keeping yourself from playing it again and again. Features: * Close to 1000 possible combinations of pits and block sets * Pause mode * Animated help screen * Save feature to store your favorite customized setup * Practice mode * Unique 3-D perspective * Top ten list recorded for each setup*** [118]*** [90]*** [99]*** [103]*** [82]*** [7]*** [23]*** [106]*** [49]*** [102]*** [33]*** [22]*** [52]*** [37] | Amiga | labelimagesubject |

Solidarność | California Dreams (P.Z.Karen) | 1991 | Of course the Soviet Union believed in labor unions, everybody got one (if they wanted it or not). In Poland (A satellite nation of the USSR via the Warsaw Pact), however, people decided they needed their own union that was independent from the Soviet Union and the Communist Party. Sounds insane. But 1980-09-17 the Polish labor union, Niezależny Samorządny Związek Zawodowy "Solidarność" (Independent Self-governing Labour Union "Solidarity") was founded. Under the leadership of Lech Wałęsa, people organized civil disobedience, labor strikes, hunger strikes, general strikes, protests, pirate radio & TV, and various paper and verbal propaganda. Funding (and perhaps other clandestine support?) from the USA, the Pope, and USSR went to Poland to strengthen either side of the conflict. The movement survived martial law and political oppression until the Polish government agreed to negotiate. The conflict eventually lead to an (almost) democratically elected government that lead a peaceful transition from communism to democracy with Wałęsa as its 2nd president. Now, can players do the same if they have the skills. It is a battle for the hearts and minds of the people of Poland. Money must be budgeted and actions must be chosen carefully. The wrong political move could lead to anything from arrest to martial law, or worst of all, not gaining the support of the people. Street Rod | California Dreams | 1989 | This is a old school street racing game based in good old California. You start off with a little cash to buy a car and modify it. The cars included are all American cars, as this is the main theme of the game. You can race people for fun, money or even pink slips. It may be an old game but it's still pretty fun, especially its sequel, Street Rod 2. | MS-DOS | labelimageminimize |
