Description

Of course the Soviet Union believed in labor unions, everybody got one (if they wanted it or not). In Poland (A satellite nation of the USSR via the Warsaw Pact), however, people decided they needed their own union that was independent from the Soviet Union and the Communist Party. Sounds insane. But 1980-09-17 the Polish labor union, Niezależny Samorządny Związek Zawodowy "Solidarność" (Independent Self-governing Labour Union "Solidarity") was founded. Under the leadership of Lech Wałęsa, people organized civil disobedience, labor strikes, hunger strikes, general strikes, protests, pirate radio & TV, and various paper and verbal propaganda. Funding (and perhaps other clandestine support?) from the USA, the Pope, and USSR went to Poland to strengthen either side of the conflict. The movement survived martial law and political oppression until the Polish government agreed to negotiate. The conflict eventually lead to an (almost) democratically elected government that lead a peaceful transition from communism to democracy with Wałęsa as its 2nd president. Now, can players do the same if they have the skills. It is a battle for the hearts and minds of the people of Poland. Money must be budgeted and actions must be chosen carefully. The wrong political move could lead to anything from arrest to martial law, or worst of all, not gaining the support of the people. Your going to need lots of photocopiers.

The credit screen is a digitized photo of an actual protest with all of the game's developers circled and named.
