Age of Conquest III | Noble Master Games | 2012 | Note, if one buys the game on a mobile platform (Online, Andriod, iOS), then they have a full cross-platform license. But if the buy on a non-mobile platform, the license is limited to non-mobile platforms (Windows, OSX, Linux). There are many other generous yet still very complicated licensing grants involving lending the game, transferring ownership, use on multiple computers/devices. And these vary depending on which party the purchase was made with. Noble Master Games sort of explains some of this but some of their explanations contradict the EULA (which they make a point to point out). The game is DRM-free and the company makes numerous requests to please follow the complicated rules. Good luck figuring them out.*** | Linux | labelimageminimize

Beneath a Steel Sky | Revolution Software | 2003 | A science-fiction thriller set in a bleak post-apocalyptic vision of the future, Beneath a Steel Sky revolves around "Union City", where selfishness, rivalry, and corruption by its citizens seems to be all too common, those who can afford it live underground, away from the pollution and social problems which are plaguing the city. You take on the role of Robert Foster, an outcast of sorts from the city since a boy who was raised in a remote environment outside of Union City simply termed "the gap". Robert's mother took him away from Union City as a child on their way to "Hobart" but the helicopter crashed on its way, unfortunately Robert's mother dies, but he survives and is left to be raised by a local tribe from the gap. Years later, Union City security drops by and abducts Robert, killing his tribe in the process; upon reaching the city the helicopter taking him there crashes with him escaping, high upon a tower block in the middle of the city he sets out to discover the truth about his past, and to seek vengeance for the killing of his tribe. | Linux | labelimagesubject

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars | Electronic Arts (EA Los Angeles) | 2007 | CnC3 is probably the hardest strategy game I know, and not because the AI is that good, but because it cheats so much. Even on the so called easy difficulty the game is frustratingly hard to even barely win (later) missions. Besides that I still like it, especially the revised GDI and the all new Scrin faction. As a game I would not recommend this to anyone but the masochistic players or diehard Tiberium series fans.***Latest version: 1.09 (as of ?)***March, 2047. A massive nuclear fireball explodes high in the night sky, marking the dramatic beginning to the Third Tiberium War and long-awaited return of the most groundbreaking Real-time Strategy franchise (RTS) of all time. The critically-acclaimed Command & Conquer (C&C) series returns with Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars (C&C 3). Setting the standard for the future of RTS gaming once more, C&C 3 takes you back to where it all began—the Tiberium Universe. In 2047, Tiberium has blanketed the Earth, which is now divided into zones based on the level of Tiberium infestation. Pristine Blue Zones represent 20% of the planet's surface and are the last refuge of the civilized world. Partially habitable Yellow Zones make up 50% of the planet's surface; most of the world's population lives in these war-torn and ecologically ravaged areas. The remaining 30% of the planet is uninhabitable, a Tiberium wasteland swept by violent Ion Storms. Red Zones are like the surface of an Alien planet. The infamous Kane has returned to lead the Brotherhood of Nod in a massive global assault on the Global Defense Initiative and the few remaining Blue zones left on the planet. Only you can stop him. The fate of humanity – and the planet – is in your hands. Featuring state-of-the-art, next-generation graphics, an epic story with live action, full-motion video sequences, and the classic fast-paced C&C style of play, C&C 3 sets the standard for the single player RTS experience. Front Mission 3 | Squaresoft;Electronic Arts (Squaresoft) | 1999 | Using a turn-based combat system; the player controls giant fighting robots called "wanzers" in order to fulfill mission objectives or to defeat foes in mechanical warafre. Robots can be continually upgraded by purchasing or scavenging new weapons/armor/computers/ect. This game takes a new approach to increasing the depth of the game creating the Double Feature Scenario which allows the player to choose one of two completely different character viewpoint within the same general plot of the game.***It is the year 2112, ten years after Front Mission Second. Kazuki Takemura, a student and test pilot for Kirishima Industries and his friend Ryogo Kusama are delivering Wanzers, giant battle machines, to a military base when a mysterious incident leads both characters into an unexpected turn of events. The incident at the JDF base has now drawn both Kazuki and Ryogo into a global conspiracy. Front Mission 3 features turn-based combat in a massive strategic adventure with 2 different scenarios and over 150 hours of gameplay. Take control of giant battle machines, upgrading them with better components, weapons, and computers. Search for clues through in-game 'internet' and 'e-mail' systems while plotting your moves on detailed, fully 3D environment maps.***IN FM3, battles are fought using Wanzers, which are quite realistic combat robots [unlike Gundams, etc]. This is a strategy RPG set mainly around the Asia/Pacific rim in the near future. There are 2 unique seperate storylines stemming from a single decision. [Haoie] | PS | labelimagesubject

NeoColonialism | Subaltern Games | 2013 | This game is very much like the board game risk. But rather than players commanding military conquests, players are bankers using neocolonial tactics to buy and sell votes for profit. After 12 turns, the player that has managed to deposit the most funds in their swiss bank account is the winner. It is a humorless and pointed satire of real world global 'banker'. It names well known figures both past and present such as J.P. Morgan, Ronald Reagan, Alan Greenspan, Donald Trump, and many more. Players are actually named after such people. The term "Neocolonialism" is the idea of using capitalism, business globalization, and cultural imperialism to influence a country without using (or necessarily having) direct military or political control. It is notably thought of as a Marxist theory despite the term being coined after the death of Karl Marx.***Neocolonialism Ruin Everything Buy votes. Extract wealth. Exploit the working class. Negotiate. Backstab. Manipulate parliaments. Manipulate the International Monetary Fund. Manipulate the world.
