UFO: Aftershock  Cenega;Tri Synergy (ALTAR Interactive)2005missing images: indoors tactical mission***destructible environment - easily goes unnoticed as you require some heavy firepower to accomplish this and it tends to bug more often than not, so it isn't very useful. The most common way for this to bug is when a door is destroyed, making the doorway unusable for some mystical reason, often trapping your squad somewhere. I've yet to see a case where this actually opened a path for the units to move through (they can shoot through the broken wall sections, though).

[Cenega]***After the alien invasion, the Council of Earth successfully fought the Reticulans and moreover discovered their secret plan: to cover the Earth with "Biomass", a network of alien organic tissue that, the Reticulans hoped, would become conscious and endowed with immense psychic powers. The Reticulans who invaded the Earth are not true representatives of their kind, they are a breakaway faction that burned the bridges and chose this backwater part of space to conduct its experiments.

The Reticulans would construct a large satellite (several kilometres across) with a closed ecosystem and move the remnants of human population there. The experiment with the Biomass would go on on the surface. Then something went horribly wrong...

This title is a unique mixture of 3D Action/Horror that blends an immersive interactive story with intense, high-adrenaline action. In the year 1878, the mysterious Dr. Morhead built a laboratory on the remote Soreo Isle and started his experiments on human/animal hybrid genetics, violating the very foundations of nature. His work was aimed at the creation of animals that look, feel and behave more like humans. He created bizarre never-before seen creatures, ModBeasts, Humanimals and Brutes, each kind with unique abilities, tactics and firepower.

After many years of hard labor bringing his desires into reality, Dr. Morhead achieved remarkable results in giving animals a human look, but there was one thing he did not take into account: animals are born as the children of nature, so their powerful bodies retained wild souls. The creatures' true nature could not be concealed forever, and the day came when Dr. Morhead fell prey to his own creations.

Years later, this island was visited by the H. M. S. Spider and a party of sailors went ashore and first found nothing but some small, indigenous wildlife...until they met the real inhabitants of Soreo Isle. The mysterious world of Vivisector consists of a more than sixteen huge levels, pitting players against the wild unpredictable natives of Soreo Isle while struggling their way through lush tropical jungles, deep woods and snowy mountains.

UK? PlayLogic***DARK FUTURE LIES AHEAD
In the 21st century, shortly after the colonization of our Solar System had begun, a huge dark object appeared beyond the orbit of Pluto. The object, called ‘Shard Zero' by the scientists, possessed some kind of a deadly aura, spreading mysterious ‘plague' of cosmic scale around itself, twisting and disrupting the very nature of space and life. There was no time for reaction, and all attempts to study the anomaly remained futile. When we finally realized the object is moving on a collision course with our planet, it was too late. Shard Zero hit Earth and that was the end of our civilization.

WorldShift is set thousands of years later, when our civilization is no more than a fading myth. The remains of Shard Zero still are spreading its Plague, twisting and re-shaping Earth and its nature, sometimes in the course of centuries and sometimes in a matter of hours. Humans developed a new culture and now live in 5 mega-cities, struggling every day for the precious resources they need to survive. The rest of Earth is populated by the Tribes, successors of early humans, that were affected by the Plague.

A NEW TAKE ON STRATEGY
WorldShift is a next-gen cyber-fantasy RTS game designed to be quick and very easy to learn and play. It offers hectic, fierce encounters all around the Earth and a fascinating story uncovering ancient secrets about the true nature of the Shard and the Plague. But also, WorldShift introduces many features new to the genre, like modifiable factions, unqiue cooperative multiplayer gameplay, and more.

ITEMS, RELICS AND THE ABILITY GRID
In WorldShift, there are no technology trees featuring hundreds of upgrades; instead, WorldShift allows the players to discover and acquire a vast number of items and powerful relics that they can use to freely change their gameplay and preferred tactics and to surprise their foes. The players will gather items as they fight their opponents and as rewards for completing missions. But to discover the most powerful relics, they must form teams with their most trusted friends and embark on deadly missions where it is difficult to survive and where the real challenges await.

GAME FEATURES
* Fast and furious multiplayer
* Thousands of items and powerful relics to collect
* Use items and relics to build your own tactics
* The best cooperative, player-vs-environment gameplay ever made in RTS game
* Random maps for infinite exploration
* Unique blend of post apocalyptic setting, hi-tech and primitive
* Epic, dangerous missions with great rewards
* 3 playable races

X-COM: Apocalypse  author2014 Linuxlabelminimizeminimize
X-COM: Apocalypse  Microprose;2K Games (Microprose)1997
[84]***

Not true in newer Windows systems though.***An unusual change from the previous X-COM games which were darker and more tied to popular sci-fi fads. Although the gameplay is good and somewhat unusual, its greatest weakness is its outlook. Everything is in cheery candy wrapped colours with odd plastic shine to them, giving the game an unreal feel and makes it difficult to immerse oneself into the gameworld and feel like we really are being invaded by aliens from another dimension while some strange alien worshipping cult tries to sabotage your operations. This is not the only reason, but it just feels like it lacks a great deal to make itself stand out, especially now that the game is located on one huge megapolis rather than the whole world, so you'd expect the game to also have more detail on that accord but no, there isn't. Despite this, the game is enjoyable for some odd reason, but could've been much better.
