Apple Town Monogatari: Little Computer People  Square1987There are a couple of differences between this Famicom Disk System version of "Little Computer People" and the original homecomputer version by Activision. The general concept of simulating the life of a person inside a house remains untouched but instead of a man with a dog, this version features a girl with a cat. Again a few mini-games were implemented (e.g. a card game or telling your horoscope). The girl's activities can be influenced a bit with a few icons/commands, which for example let the phone ring. The rest is just watching and after a few minutes you start to wonder why you should actually bother to do this. The concept was interesting when it was new and I fondly remember some scenes in the C64 version way back in the 80s, but I think it always failed as a game and I got instantly bored with this version. Discovering secrets and tricks is part of the fun and gives you an edge over other players. Only with steady hands, split second reflexes and a little luck can you overcome an overwhelming variety of enemies and obstacles. A surprise ending awaits those accomplished few who can complete the game.***1 player or 2 players simultaneous.

Protect a crawling baby by blasting obstacles and dangers out of the way.

A non-violent Zapper game. Two people can play simultaneously with a controller+zapper scheme. Zapper not required for 1 player.

There are blue and black variants of this cartridge. However, Color Dreams employees say they only produced blue carts for this game.

The game mentions Baby Boomer 2, but development on Baby Boomer 2 was never even began. It is complete vaporware. Check the spoiler for details.
"You won the game!! But Boomer is in the wrong baby carriage! Wait for Baby Boomer 2 to see what happens to our hero next!"
This game was ported to a PAL version but it supposedly was never published in PAL countries. The prototype has not been located.

Gradiente Published this game in South America

Baby Blaster was the working title.

This game was actually created only to use to create a better development system for NES games. It turned out to be the first game Color Dreams published.

[52]***In Captain Silver, you play the role of Jim, a brave young lad with a taste of adventure. You embark on a journey to find Captain Silver's secret treasure hoard, which is rumored to be hidden on an island in the Eastern Seas.

There are six scenes in the game. During his travels, Jim will explore villages, fight his way on board ships, venture through caves, and wander around tropical islands. In each of these six scenes, Jim must use his sword to kill cats, rats, bats, witches, skeletons, and other creatures that are waiting for him. When Jim touches, or is shot at, by a creature, he loses one of his lives, but when he kills a creature, he can collect some gold that they leave behind, which can be used to buy items from shops. However, rather than getting gold, enemies leave behind some gold containing one of the letters that spell the word "CAPTAIN SILVER". If Jim manages to get all of these letters, he will be awarded an extra life.

Jim may only use his sword to start off with, but once he collects a fairy that floats toward him in every scene, Jim will be able to shoot stars at enemies, making his kills more efficient. The maximum number of stars that he can have is six. There are other power-ups that Jim can collect in the game. These include the "clock" power-up, which gives Jim extra time; the "boot" power-up which allows Jim to jump higher; and the "coffee?" power-up, which enables Jim to shield himself from creatures until he is hit by one.

There is a boss in each scene, which he must defeat in order to proceed to the next round. There is also a certain time limit, which Jim must complete the scene before it expires. If he does not, then he will lose a life.***There are two version of this cart. The "two-mega" version was released in Canada and Europe and has all 6 levels and all the enemies mentioned in the manual. The "one-mega" version was released in the USA. It has only 4 levels and is missing many enemies. The USA game manual still describes the missing levels and enemies.

Chrono Trigger  Square1995Nobuo Uematsu stepped in to finish the work of Yasunori Mitsuda when Mitsuda was unavailable due to temporary health issues aggravated by self-imposed overworking. 54 tracks are considered to be by Mitsuda while 10 are entirely by Uematsu.***
[32]***The 32-Meg quest begins. The millennium. A portal is opened. The chain of time is broken. A young man is transported into the past, altering the course of history and the outcome of the future. He has to find his way home, but first he must travel to the outer edges of time to repair the world's chronology.
On the way, he encounters strange friends and foes, utilizes incredible devices and vehicles, and penetrates and neutralizes the fortresses of the past, present, and future. A paradox has been created. If he does no restore the order of time, nothing will ever be the same. He is the one who will become a hero. He is Crono.***Classic time-traveling Squaresoft RPG with some of the best graphics and music of its time.

Although Chrono Trigger is a tad overrated, it is still quite a marvelous RPG. It features a huge sprawling quest, multiple characters with different skills, excellent graphics and music, and an ATB battle system that features a wide assortment of spells and even combo attacks! The game has many different endings for replay value, and you can restart with all your items and experience from previous games.
[Spiez]***I don't think Chrono Trigger is overrated at all. I can't think of many RPGs on the SNES, or even on modern systems, that can rival Chrono Trigger. Awesome story, music, graphics, characters, battle system, replayability... the list goes on. The only SNES games I'd even put on the same plateau with Chrono Trigger are probably Seiken Densetsu 3 and Front Mission... maybe Final Fantasy VI and Star Ocean. Bottom line--Chrono Trigger is the benchmark for Japanese-style RPGs.

Apparently, some text referring to demons, alcohol, etc. and possibly some plot-related text as well, were cut out of the English release. An unofficial re-translation is being worked on at the [[link:http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/Retranslation Chrono Compendium]] (as well as dozens of quality fan-made games and hacks).

City Adventure Touch: Mystery of Triangle  Toho (Compile)1987A game based on the highschool/sports manga and anime series "Touch". Your goal is to rescue ten cats which are hidden somewhere in a huge city and its surroundings. You are controlling two male characters at the same time (another female character is constantly following you around). That makes controlling the characters very complicated. You have to buy items from time to time to open up new part of the game world or to beat some bosses. The game is not very playable. Worst thing is the very limited inventory space. In order to free some space you have to drop several items from time to time. But this can only be done in certain houses! Also, shuffling through the inventory items is bothersome. The city is a huge maze with many streets, a forest, beach etc. Its hard to find your way around without a map and walkthrough. Compile should have kept with making great shoot'em ups instead of doing such a below average Action-Adventure game. NESlabelimageminimize
City Connection  Jaleco;Jaleco USA (Hect)1985***
[100]***シティコネクション literally reads
shiti konekushon
***The goal in "City Connection" is to drive with your car over each segment of all platforms while avoiding police cars and other stuff (especially a very nasty cat that always appears on the road when you least expect it). In addition to the ability to jump, your car can shoot enemies. After completing a stage you make your way to the next stage which takes place in another famous city somewhere in the world. City Connection is a strange platform game, but not without its qualities. Graphics and sound are ok for a game from 1985 and the gameplay is motivating enough to try the game for a couple of rounds.***Based on the arcade hit, a young man born in California sets out to tour famous sites and cities around the world. As he drives the highways surrounding these locations, the road is painted white as proof of his visit. Only once all sections of the road have been painted will he move on to the next location in his world tour. Not surprisingly, the local police will chase the driver and do their best to stop him from completing his goal. In addition, cats roam the highways and spikes lie in wait for unsuspecting drivers. To combat these dangers, the driver's customized car can jump, fire cans of oil and collect balloons to warp to a new stage. It's the ultimate road trip.
