Day of the Tentacle Remastered  Double Fine2016Of note, this game uses modified versions of the original datafiles from the DOS version. The Scumm engine has been updated to read XML, FSB, MP3, and DXT files (which are how the modified datafiles are stored). This new version of the the Scumm engine runs natively on current Linux operating systems, Windows 7+, and OSX 10.7-10.11. Double Fine provides a bit of software called Doublefine Explorer that lets users, among other things, copy out the original datafiles minus the extensions. Thus recreating the DOS version from the modern files (to use with ScummVM, DOSBox, or DOS). All Moai engine or Buddha engine games by Double Fine are compatible with Doublefine Explorer. Of course, the extracted files do not have any of the updated sound, music, graphics, and features of the remastered version.

While not properly titled as such, several official descriptions and documentation (including the Steam page) use the title "Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle" and "Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle"

Leisure Suit Larry 2  Sierra On-Line1989Who is Leisure Suit Larry?

If you look up the word "nerd" in the dictionary, you're liable to find Leisure Suit Larry's picture as a definition.

Leisure Suit Larry is the kind of guy you see in just about every seedy singles bar. He wears a white leisure suit with the shirt open to the waist (lots of gold chains make up for the lack of a chest). If you can get past the glow of his Grecian formula, you can see that his hairline is making a hasty retreat from his forehead.

Larry is the original blind date nightmare - the kind of guy you wouldn't want your daughter to date, let alone meet.

He is such a loser that Cosmo Magazine recently voted him "most negligible bachelor of the year."

A Time Magazine article on "The War Between the Sexes" carried his picture with the caption "an unarmed innocent bystander."

Why is Larry suddenly so popular with the ladies?

On cruise ships, in laid back Los Angeles, and in other exotic locations, Larry is suddenly attracting the attention of all kinds of nubile nymphettes. He's been propositioned by a bikini'd babe at the poop-deck pool, suffered the seductions of a sadomasochistic spinster, even played "hide the onklunk" with a sexy spanish senorita.

Why is it that some of the loviest ladies in the western hemisphere are so hot to get their hands on Larry - and why is he resisting their advances?

Why is it that Larry has suddenly started looking for Miss "Right" (as opposed to Miss "Right-Now") and will he find her? Find out why when you play...

Space Quest 6: Roger Wilco in The Spinal Frontier Sierra On-Line1995 Win3.1labelimageminimize
Space Quest 6: Roger Wilco in The Spinal Frontier  Sierra On-Line1995This game was the last to be released in the Space Quest series. It ran on the last version of the SCI engine, SCI32. This allowed it to use Super VGA graphics with 256 colors at 640×480 resolution. Unlike other SCI games, it didn't have the interface in a pull down bar at the top of the screen, but instead used a "verb bar" window along the bottom of the screen, similar to LucasArts' SCUMM engine. The graphics style was also more cartoonish than in previous games. Gary Owens served as narrator once again. Having defeated the diabolical pukoid mutants in Space Quest V, Captain Roger Wilco triumphantly returns to StarCon headquarters - only to be court-martialed due to breaking StarCon regulations while saving the galaxy. He's busted down to Janitor Second Class, and assigned to the SCS DeepShip 86 (a parody of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), commanded by Commander Kielbasa, a Cowardly Lion look-alike whose name is taken from the polish sausage as well as being a play on the names of both the feline Kilrathi from the computer game series Wing Commander and of the character Mufasa from the animated motion picture The Lion King. His voice is a parody of Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation. The game's subtitle comes from the final portion, in which Roger has to undergo miniaturization and enter the body of a shipmate and romantic interest. Josh Mandel designed the majority of Space Quest 6 (with Scott Murphy on-board in a "creative consultant" capacity) but had to leave the project shortly before completion due to internal strife with Sierra. As an additional result of this change in designers, some puzzles - primarily in the latter stages of the game - were shoddily implemented due to lack of communication. Note that the level demo contains new content and puzzles not found in the retail game.***

Space Quest III: The Pirates of Pestulon Sierra On-Line1989
[22]***
[52]***The Two Guys from Andromeda, designers of the graphically extravagant (and satirically sensational) Space Quest series, have disappeared into thin oxygen! Hysterical game fanatics around the world await word on the whereabouts of these celestial celebrities!

Who could be the mastermind behind this evil plot?

Could it be the Pirates of Pestulon, known for their plundering, preying and unprincipaled practices? Or maybe the legions of Space Quest fans who would kill to be the first to play Space Quest III (the graphic adventure game with the closest thing yet to motion picture-quality animation). Not to be forgotten are the monkey-suited minions of Sludge Vohaul (from our last episode), who would love to make banana pudding out of those responsible for putting them behind bars.

Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force Activision (Raven Software)2000

* Windows 95, 98, 2000 or NT4
* 233 MHz Pentium II or 350 MHz K6-2 CPU
* 64 MB RAM
* 8 MB VRAM
* 650 MB HD space
* 4X CD-ROM drive***Prepare to join the Elite Force. When a marauding species captures the U.S.S. Voyager, only a member of the newly formed elite security force - The Hazard Team - can save the crew, the ship...and the Galaxy itself. Commanded by Lt. Tuvok, you'll leap into action to defend the Voyager from assault, battle through derelict spacecraft, infiltrate a Borg cube and take on the ultimate colonization force - all the while facing annihilation at every turn. No one said being a hero was easy.

Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force is the ultimate, sci-fi first-person shooter using the Quake III Arena(TM) engine. The first game based on Star Trek Voyager universe, Elite Force pits players against a multitude of Star Trek enemies, including the relentless Borg and never-before-seen aliens, in intense single-player and multiplayer combat missions.

Become a Part of the Star Trek World: Explore in and defend the Voyager, designed according to the actual shop set used on the television show. Battle the Borg, Scavengers, Hirogen and more, backed by Star Trek sound effects, music and visuals. Animating textures, weapons and motion-captured movement add to the realism - corridors collapse, wall explode and enemies materialize directly in front of you.

An Officer with a Mission: Just as in the TV series, missions include team and solo segments. Face moral dilemmas during your missions - will you rescue ship personnel or follow orders?

The Curse of Monkey Island  LucasArts1997This is the third game in the Monkey Island series of popular comical computer adventure games released 6 long years after the previous game. It's the twelfth and last game to use the SCUMM engine, which was extensively upgraded for its last outing before being replaced by the GrimE engine for the next game in the series, Escape from Monkey Island. It's the first Monkey Island game to be voiced, and has a graphic style more cartoon-ish than the earlier games. After the vague and surrealistic ending of Monkey Island 2, Guybrush Threepwood is inexplicably found on the sea, after an undefined adventure he had, and his escape from the Big Whoop where he was trapped for an undisclosed period of time. He eventually approaches Plunder Island and and is startled to find that he has drifted right into the middle of a raging ocean battle between the demon pirate LeChuck and Elaine, his lost love! But unfortunately before he can join her, LeChuck captures him and here we go again, off on another "rollicking tale of swashbuckling adventure with dull blade and rapier wit"!***

[84]***
[53]***Continuing the excellent trend of LucasArts RPGs, this installment sees Guybrush Threepwood attempt to foil the curse that his turned the love of his life into a gold statue. The intense humour and classic point-and-click interface is excellently represented by the second sequel to The Secret of Monkey Island.

The Sims 3 Electronic Arts (EA Redwood Shores)2009Way worse than Sims 2, with only a city that is terrain-fixed, and with the control of only ONE family for the sake of neighborhood aging (good concept, but stupid for a shared computer or when you simply want to play many different families)

7 de 10***Although the base game concept is interesting as social simulation game, the game only includes one small town to play in and sell additional towns as microtransactions for about 25USD/20EUR (that's for single town), there's also other limitations which aren't as egregious as this. But I don't think I need to really go into detail on the game beyond this. It's a money milker for EA, but considering how successful the game has been, I rather question the players who actually fall for this rather than EA for doing it. I bought the game when it was discounted at "low" 15EUR price itself (from original 50EUR) and I can say that the game is hardly worth even that much. Maybe if it was like 10EUR with towns being 2EUR or so, I might consider it reasonable. There's also DLC expansions that cost the same as the base game itself.

Unfortunately popularity (or market hype?) of Sims series has made it pretty certain there won't be any serious competition, it also allows EA to continue producing inferior games for ridiculously high price.

As a game, it's decent I think, but in terms of value vs price, you're paying 100-1000 times more than you should be. Hence, don't buy any Sims games outside of significant (>60%) discounts.***The game seems to have a long standing non-critical bug where the game starts freezing every few minutes. According to some players this is likely related to pathing code where some NPC gets "stuck" and can't figure out how to get their stuff done as a result. There is no real fix for this besides starting a new game which obviously doesn't prevent an NPC from getting stuck again.***The freedom of The Sims 3 will inspire you with endless creative possibilities and amuse you with unexpected moments of surprise and mischief! Zork: Grand Inquisitor Activision1997Magic is banned in the Great Underground Empire, and the Grand Inquisitor Yannick (with the kind help of Frobozz Electric) has a stranglehold on the world of Zork, establishing a totalitarian regime. According to his own words, the goal of the new state is to "shun magic, shun the appearance of magic, shun everything, and then shun shunning." Any opposing forces will be "totemized", which is apparently a rather unpleasant procedure. The player character in the game is just that - the player character: Ageless, Faceless, Gender-Neutral, Culturally-Ambiguous Adventure Person (abbreviated AFGNCAAP), as the politically correct designation by the Dungeon Master Dalboz defines him/her (it?). Naturally, it is the hero's duty to save the world by collecting a Cube of Foundation, the Skull of Yoruk, and the Coconut of Quendor, so that magic can return to the land and the Grand Inquisitor falls victim to his own shunning policies.

Zork: Grand Inquisitor is the third in the row of graphical Zork games. It utilizes the same engine as its predecessor, with first-person perspective, 180 degree camera rotation, pre-rendered backgrounds, and live actors. Compared to the previous game, it is more similar in tone to the early, predominantly humorous Zork adventures, containing plenty of references to them.

The gameplay is puzzle-oriented; most of the puzzles are inventory-based, though there are also a few that require manipulating the game's environment. Casting magical spells is an important element of the gameplay. The protagonist discovers spell scrolls and learns spells from them, which must be frequently used on objects and items to solve puzzles. The spells range from simple magic that can open locked doors to exotic variations such as "making all purple things invisible". The player can also cast spells backwards, in which case they will have an opposite effect; in the aforementioned examples, casting the reversed spells will lock a door or magically make an object visible, provided it was purple before that condition was inflicted upon it.***
