Bari Bari Densetsu | Taito | 1989 | Generic motorbike racing game. It's based on some popular Japanese manga series, but except some illustrative b&w graphics in the intro and at the end there is no hint that this is based on something. No story at all. There are two play modes. A free travel mode, which is a kind of practice mode that let's choose on which of the sixteen tracks you want to race. And a world championship mode, where you race on all tracks and try to get the most points and thus becoming world champion. Between the races you can modify your bike setup a bit (using rain tires when the weather forecast expects rain for example). The racing itself is very mediocre and too easy once you find a fast setup. Graphics are weak, only a couple of different background graphics, simple objects along the track, no up- and downhill, no tunnels or other things that could break the monotony. Last but not least an annoying motor sound. | PC Engine | labelimageminimize |
Bastard!! Online | TECMO (Lievo Studio) | 2009 | Windows | labelminimizeminimize
Batsu & Terii Makyou no Tetsujin Rasu | Use | 1987 | Batsu & Terry is based on an 80's baseball-themed manga series. You control either a baseball throwing guy or a baseball bat swinging guy. The game doesn't offer much fun. The levels are full of re-occuring elements and mostly just boring. Most enemies you should just avoid instead of killing them. And the graphics and sound are by far not good enough to draw some positive attention to the game. I mean I have played much worse games on the Famicom/NES, but in the end "Batsu & Terry" struggles to be even a mediocre game. | NES | labelimageminimize |
Battle B-Daman: Fire Spirits! | Atlus Software | 2005 | GBA | labelimageminimize
Be-Bop High School: Koukousei Gokuraku Densetsu | Data East | 1988 | "Be-Bop High School: Koukousei Gokuraku Densetsu" is based on a long-running manga series about the advenuters of some high school boys, featuring quite a lot of wacky characters. I don't know the manga but the game seems to make good use of the license, capturing the atmosphere and characters nicely. While this game is basically an adventure game you spend much time with walking through the town from an overhead perspective. Over the time more and more locations become accessible. Some action scenes where you have to hit some other guys in the face are also included. The game also features a day-night cycle with certain actions only being possible at a certain time of the day. This combined with the fact that there is a general timelimit to complete the game and some random factors makes it rather hard to play without a walkthrough. Needless to say that you won't be able to follow the story when you don't understand Japanese. Graphically the game is pretty decent with some nice portraits and some funny looking situations. | NES | labelimageminimize |

Original story and new characters who do not even know yet graphic and beauty breathtaking, and, "Action Buttagiri" full of exhilaration. Players become a swordsman, guts, to continue the journey with friends. | PS2 | labelimagesubject |

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma | Arc System Works | 2012 | Besides normal rebalancing from Continuum Shift Extend, Chrono Phantasma features several revamped gameplay mechanics and introduces seven new characters to the roster (with two additional characters added to the Extend version of Chrono Phantasma). The character sprites have also been redrawn and several new songs were composed for the game. All previous musical themes were re-arranged. The storyline continues after events of Continuum Shift. A new mechanic called "Overdrive" has been added to the game, replacing the Gold Bursts from Continuum Shift. Green Bursts are still in but are the only form of Burst available. Distortion Drives such as Ragna's "Blood Kain", Taokaka's "Almost Becoming Two!", Litchi's "Great Wheel" and Bang's "Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan" have been retooled to be their respective characters' Overdrives. The length of an Overdrive increases the lower a character's health is, and performing an Overdrive stops the round timer while it is active. Guard Primers have been removed entirely and the Guard Crush has been moved to a new mechanic called "Crush Trigger" where, at the cost of 25 Heat, a player may hit the A and B attack buttons simultaneously to cause a Guard Crush against blocking opponents, provided the opponent is not using Barrier Block. | Arcade | labelimagesubject |
