In the game, you assume the role of Angelique, a teenage girl chosen by Queen Angelique (all Queens share the name Angelique) and her aide Dia. Selected as one of two candidates from the Royal Smorny Girls Academy to be the next Queen, you are transported to the Flying City for your final examination. Each candidate receives a land to populate, and the first to finish populating it becomes the next Queen. This task is accomplished with the assistance of nine Guardians, who use their powers to ensure the happiness of your people or to hinder your rivals. Throughout the journey, you form bonds with the Guardians and can even experience romantic connections. Opting for love, however, means forfeiting your chance to become Queen, but it leads to a happily ever after. Angelique History, a limited edition boxed set of the beloved romantic RPG series, includes Angelique Special, Fushigi no Kuni no Angelique (Angelique in Wonderland), Angelique Special 2, Angelique Duet, and Angelique: Tenkuu no Requiem (Angelique: Celestial Requiem).
